The Staff

I consider it a privilege to serve as the director of this wonderful learning community.  Tetra is a dynamic place to be.  I take pride in the work our staff demonstrates to our students and parents. We provide a safe and caring learning environment that fosters success. At school, we continue teaching children from where they are and take them as far as they can go. Along with the essentials, we also want our students to grow as positive, peaceful individuals with the skills to solve problems. I am dedicated to the staff and students to help them meet the challenges of the 21st century.

 

We want YOU to keep in touch with us at Tetra. The home/school connection is very important to your child’s success. We invite you to join us throughout the year to celebrate our successes.  We try our personal best to keep parents informed of our learning progress and activities.

It is almost like magic to see when something just clicks. I like to do a lot of hands on activities because, like the kids, I am full of energy. Creating is often the best way to learn and I believe will help the kids to become self organized. I am really strong in reading and writing. I think the kids will have a lot of fun creating their own literature and watching it come to life on the computer or presenting it as a play or song. So many ideas!!! The curriculum Carmen has put together seems to match me perfectly in the areas of social studies, math, and science. Again everything is hands on using all types of methods to ensure learning. I can’t wait to meet the kids and begin the fun!!! During my time these past 5 years, I realized that I love kids, but more importantly, I am drawn to those stray from the main stream. Even after school ended for the day, I found myself thinking of ways to connect with the child, or telling my husband and daughter something cute that child may have done. That’s how I knew, a life in education was for me. My name is Kellie Darnell. Thank you for welcoming me to Tetra Academy. I am excited to continue doing what I love… Working with Kids!!! This will be my 6th year in education. In the past I have taught Kindergarten art, music, and gym. I also worked in small groups for reading, writing, and math. I was a preschool teacher for one year, teaching all subject areas. I have also ran an after school dance program for the last five years. Everything I have done to this point has been really rewarding and educational.
